QloudSync for Windows!

What is QloudSync?

QloudSync is an easy to use, content centric and infinitely scalable cloud storage and synchronization solution for consumers and businesses. Simply put, we offer a way to backup and sync files from your computer(s) by normal usage of one or more local folders and sending it all seamlessly to the cloud.

This is done by using one of the following:

  • The QloudSync Desktop Application is a cross-platform software solution that watches one or more folders on your desktop computer and syncs any of the changes made to your cloud repository.
  • The StorageQloud Web Service allows you to access your files on the cloud by using your browser. You can download your files, as well as listen to music and view photos. Sharing your files with others is also a few clicks away.
  • The QloudSync Mobile Application is a mobile application for the iPhone and Android that allows you to upload content from your pocket to the cloud.

Getting started and signing up

Once you have downloaded the newest version of QloudSync for Windows from www.qloudsync.com and have installed the client to your computer, it’s time to login and start using QloudSync. Once you have the opened the login screen, please enter your GreenQloud credentials. If you do not have an account yet, don’t despair!  We have a Create Account button that can be used to easily create a new GreenQloud account. Once the login credentials have been entered, you will be able to access your cloud data.

You can also click here to register.

Your first sync

Now that you have logged into your account, you will be presented with a new window that allows you to do a lot of cool things. In this screen, you will be able to select which folders you would like QloudSync to sync to your computer. This is particularly useful if you already have data stored on your StorageQloud bucket. If you are a new user, don’t worry, you can select all the default folders and change these settings at a later time, as explained later on this get started guide.

In this screen, you will also be able to change the location where you would like QloudSync to put your StorageQloud folder (which will be monitored and synced). This is very useful if the default location is nearly full or if you would prefer to put it in a different drive. Don’t worry, we’ll explain how you can change this location later with no hassle!

Once you have made those choices, it’s time to get started with QloudSync. The following screen will present you with a Get Started button, which when pressed will open up your local StorageQloud folder and your StorageQloud bucket so that you can witness the sync magic in real time!

If you have many files already stored on your StorageQloud bucket and it seems nothing is happening — fear not!  QloudSync is just working its magic, and your sync will begin soon enough.

Running QloudSync

Now that QloudSync is running on your computer, you may notice its icon on your Tray. If this icon is not visible, simply click the arrow to show the hidden Tray items and drag the precious white cloud to your desired location on the tray.

Clicking on the icon will show the QloudSync menu. Here you can see information about your sync history, such as the recently synced items, as well as total megabytes used on your cloud bucket and total saved CO2 emissions.

From the QloudSync menu screen you will also be able to very quickly access your StorageQloud local folder and StorageQloud bucket.

Clicking on one of the recently changed files will also take you directly to that file on your StorageQloud bucket.

Changing your settings

If you would like to change your settings and view advanced information on the sync state, this can be achieved by accessing the preferences option from the QloudSync menu. Once preferences is selected, you will be presented with a window with 3 tabs, Selective Sync, Network Status and Account.

On the Selective Sync Tab, you can select to either ignore a folder from the sync process or add folders that were previously ignored. Note that any folders created after the initial sync will not be ignored by default. This is also the place where you can move the StorageQloud local folder to a new location, accomplished by using the Move SQ Folder button.

On the Network Status Tab, you will be able to view the current processes that QloudSync is running, as well as the total amount of data that has been transmitted. In this tab, you can also limit your bandwidth for downloads and uploads if needed*.

*Feature not yet available for Version 3.1.3

On the Account tab you will be able to see which account the current computer is linked to and where the files are being synced.  Here you can change the account to which QloudSync is linked. Please note that doing this will prompt your QloudSync client to restart; any information on your previous StorageQloud local folder will be pushed to your new, alternate StorageQloud bucket if you do not change location of the StorageQloud folder to a different location, after the initial sync.
